Week 7 : Continued expansion in development

已更新:2024年10月8日

This week I have continued to follow up on the overall progress of the project and have been thinking deeply about the future. I will be using the four F's of active review to help me reflect on my experience and plan for the future through four levels: facts, feelings, findings, and future.

Context

In order to better expand on the project, I have listed a mind map dividing it specifically into two parts: the game and the app. In the mind map I listed the tools that may be used in the project and the tasks that need to be done and made changes to the later development of the project.

Actions

I have added the app part because I want my project development to be a system that has a complete system with a game part for users to choose and test and an app part for parents and doctors to monitor and analyse the target group.

The focus of the project is still on the game and no changes have been made I have just expanded the project one step, but to be honest I am not sure if this is the right thing to do because, I don't have a lot of time left to complete the project.

In terms of game development I pushed further into character design and background design, I added more characters to the game and started working on the animation part of the game's plot. I created animated split-scenes and line drawings, interestingly after I created the split-scenes and continued to animate them in CSP there was a big change so my split-scenes and animations didn't look like they matched. In order to ensure the technical feasibility of the project, I researched and tested various devices in FABLAB, including Bluetooth devices, heart rate monitoring devices, and the main control board ONU. these hardware tests helped me to better understand the technical requirements and provide technical support for subsequent development.

Results

Through this week's work I have completed the subplots and animated line drawings currently only needing to be coloured for the animations. By researching and testing the equipment I have identified the technical solutions to be used and in particular made progress on how to integrate the heart rate monitoring data with the dynamic background mechanics of the game.

Learning

This week's experience has made me realise that I need to consider the whole project at the early stages of the work, as my lack of consideration at the early stages has led to clashes in time for my later development. In addition, since this was my first time to use CSP to create animation, many parts of the animation did not match with the plot I had just designed, so for the subsequent development of the animation, I will use the software that I am more familiar with. In addition, I also realised that project design is not only an expression of ideas, but also needs to be combined with practical technical tools. Through testing in FABLAB, I gained a clearer understanding of how the hardware works, which allowed me to better plan the integration of the game with the application.
