Narrow down to 1 problem space

I then narrowed down my problem to being late and shared it with my designer. Since lateness is a serious problem for me and lasts for a long time, I would like to ask her to help me find out the cause of this problem. Similarly, my partner Angela offered me advice on her major/problem area. Finally, I decided to study the problem of her low work efficiency. Angle and I had an in-depth exchange of questions on this issue with her.

Observation/Photo journal

From the above conversation, I find that the main reason for most people's low work is procrastination and the inability to properly arrange a work rest plan and carry it out. Then I observed and analyzed my client's living environment, the project schedule and her Bullet Journal, and conducted a deep study on the reasons for her low work efficiency.

Research/Analysis: The client's working environment is generally chaotic. From the situation of the desk, books, computers and some papers are not well organized and stored, so when she needs to find some documents and books, it will be cumbersome, which will greatly reduce her work efficiency. I can tell from the notes on the wall that she keeps work plans and reminders on them. The light in the environment is warm and comfortable, and the computer and iPad are separated by a stand to work at the same time. The headphones on the desk show that she enjoys working while listening to music.

Research/analysis: She wrote down the tasks and tasks that needed to be done each week and conducted an analysis at the end of each week. This would have been a great plan but I think it would have been simpler and more convenient to put together a table. And she didn't keep track of the fun part. It is also a good choice to record the time for entertainment and rest, and it can more intuitively reflect the cause of low work efficiency.

Secondary research


Looking at websites and information further confirms my view that the reason most people are unproductive is that they don't have a reasonable work schedule. The root cause of low productivity is not being able to manage time; Workload = focus (productivity) x time. A good work schedule and timer can help you create a good habit in your life. As you build this habit slowly, it becomes a habit that can be implemented without a plan.
In addition, I found many ways to improve my work efficiency. For example, the ALPEN method was developed by economist and time management expert Professor Lothar J Seiwert. Just 10 minutes each morning can increase productivity by 50 percent. Many people, including survey respondents, lack good methods and a good mentality. Through the second study, I realized the importance of mental attitude. A good mental attitude can not only improve the quality of your work, but also reduce procrastination. And the mindset also depends on the purpose of the self. When a person works aimlessly, she will lose a lot of motivation.
